Master and Commander ’03

Wow havent seen this in nearly 20 years it seems.
better than I remembered it.
Like the epic movies.
Cringey and big boats, its like time travelling 200 some odd years ago, like 2-3 generations or more.
Another Youtube free recommendation, after I watched way downtown filmed in Calgary ahahah.
yeh thats what came on after.
I love movie night just get so engrossed by a film that I cant look away.
Gotta say too Russel Crowe is badass actor always enjoyed his movies, and his recent one popes exorcist was good too.
Especially enjoyed this one more than I remember. Napoleonic wars thats some crazy time to be alive lol.
Yeh I couldnt even imagine how wild that mustahave been.
The battle paintings are ruthless.
Cant say im too familiar with those days but i mean I know a little and what they showed in the movie, I guess was drawn from several sources.
I guess thats just not my type of party 2 boats loaded with cannons and sabers in the middle of the ocean. No morphine its like the civil war and getting hit with a cannon lol its pretty savage.

Pretty contrast to Treasure Island ahahaha.

Sergio Leone & Lee Van Cleef

Recently watched the fistfull of dollars. Super fun.
And, For a few dollars more was even better I think.
For a director Sergio Leone is fantastic.
Really enjoy Clint of course but Lee Van Cleef is a fun actor to watch.
Ill never forget his characters lol.
The good the bad and the ugly, thats the one Ive seen the most but never seen the prequels before. Really enjoyed that.
Not used to that on the blog im always after some horrible movies so Its great when I get some classics going.
That hat shooting scene has to be my fave lol.
Just in general really enjoying these Sergio Leone movies and casts sets music the whole package with just enough humour action drama to keep you hooked in.

___
Issues with the blog gee I wonder what that could be lol.
Anyways just for the record I know that the dollars series arent prequels and G-B-U is is a standalone. I assume the dollar sequels are the same part one and two based on the name.
As always if someone wants to correct me from something I wrote on the blog, Im happy to admit error. Until then, I rarely edit, so that mkes me right 99% of the time all the time.
Yeh anyways really enjoyed the Few Dollars more. Dare I say its better than G-B-U ? Maybe. Although I like the length and 3 characters and action.
I dunno started watching once upon a time in the west, its good but definetly not as good as the other 3.
I definetly like the cheesy aspect, or the spaghetti portion.
Neat this was filmed in like Rome and Spain desert park seems like a fun place to visit..
Oh ya watched some History of the world pt 1 and Naked Gun.. The Patriot. Movies prolly not super worth commenting on. atm

Finished watching the Once upon a time in the west, hey turned out not too bad.
Not sure how much of a fan I am of the Charles Bronson Western, although it was pretty good.
Lots of mystery, unknowns and change of settings character. Like what happened on the mister Choo choo, and the romance between Jill and Frank. Seemed a little strange, what happened at the brick bell arch hanging. Jill sure gets bashed around alot, lol Its pretty savage. It definetly doesnt hold back on some of the western ruthlessness and raunchy/dirtyness. Although some scenes of compassion. I guess Charles Bronson wanted to get Frank himself. Anywyas neat group of characters, some comedic parts, some dramatic parts, lots of mystery, tragedy. Overall great movie glad i watched it. I would have to say I prefered some of the classic Sergio Leone, although this one was great.
I guess im reading now the dollars trilogy does include the Good the Bad and ugly however, I can see the characters change a bit in the 3rd one? i mean same characters different traits? Well anyways. I already watched the once upon a time in America so onto the last one. Might have some issues watching the Italian ones cause im not fluent, but maybe check it out dubbed or subtitles more likely.
I think that was my first Henry Fonda movie lol.
Unless Grapes of Wrath. Im not so sure about the movie though, i think the book paints better pictures in my head.
Next the Jason Robards. Vet, Hes been in some 90s movies im familiar with. He had a good role in this movie. I enjoyed the Bandit. He was the comedic relief. Of cours Charles Bronson in Great escape. Is probably the first ive seen.
Claudia Cardinale Really pretty in this film, Shes one of the only actresses from this film still left alive. Thats the first movie I seen from that huge repertoire. Some interesting characters.
These movies are nuts, these scenes with horses and tons of people and the hangings im sure alot of people got hurt or almost, as Im reading from wikipedia lol. They dont make movies like this anymore. I mean for good reason but also thats why you wont get great films, maybe Francis Ford Cappola is right hes one of the last of the ‘dictator’ film directors. Yeh I dont see how thats a low budget film neither (Few dollars more) Leitmotif thats a new word for me, I did recognize em though, didnt know that was a thing. No way 7th grossing in France thats crazy.

Prince of the City ’81

Neat cop movie about an undercover that ends up turning in a bunch of dirty cops and turns into a whole court drama and life drama.
Ciello was a good actor and he goes through all sorts of shit, in a semi witness protection.
Dealing with years of wire recordings, and trust issues.
Turning in his partners.
I dunno was a good movie held my attention.
Sympathize with the character, and lots of development.
New York and prosecuting and defence and courtroom drama.
Pretty 80’s out and some era hairstyles behaviours and clothing.

Pope’s Exorcist 2023

Russell Crowe good movie.
More serious then Renfield more special effects.
Was a entertaining piece.
Original exorcist was scary this one had more special effects and more drama I think.
Yeh was a good horror better than I seen lately.
I guess some of that if not all based on a real person.
Says the Spanish inquisition the work of the devil.
Spoiler alert lol.

Bridge at Remagen ’69

Watched this one first time.
Pretty neat flick.
Lots of explosion and crazy scenes tanks crashing through walls. Whole house getting demolished.
Cant say much about the movie was just watching on the side but It was pretty neat. Never even heard of this movie till today.
I guess the bridge in question was never rebuilt and still stands on both sides as a museum.
Never heard of any of the actors in this neither.

The Horseman ’71

Neat Afghanistan horse polo movie Columbia.
Some crazy scenes with alot of people and horses.
Havent paid too much attention but its a good looking movie.
Seen a Horseman jump on a House swinging some dead goat around lol.
I just like cool horse big productions movies.
Havent seen much like I said definetly revisiting this one, just reading the subtitles and checking out some cool scenes.

Force 10 From Navarone ’78

Caught this on a recommended free from youtube.
Never seen it.
Neat movie with Harrison Ford and Apollo Creed actor.
Also the Tall crazy looking guy from Happy Gilmore.
So that was fun to watch for the first time.
Neat production with the bridge and other big shots.
Glad for the Youtube recomendations otherwise never woulda picked it.
Younger Harrison Ford too, can see some appeal tousing him as an actor for the Indiana Jones afterwards. 3 years later.

Renfield 2023

That was a good movie, Nick Cage plays a great Dracula.
Good twist on the Renfield Charater too.
The cop character was funny and a good actress.
The gangsters were funny and fitting to a Louisiana setting.
Its cool they used the old New Orleans hospital.
Mix of Comedy Horror Romance Gore Fantasy Kung Fu.
Nick Cage steals the show.

Glad I watched that.
Some Quebec filming, cool sets.
NAh all around I liked that.
Had some Fight club vibes, also Matrix.
And the new Munsters.

Also watched some Dracula Dead and Loving it again after just to see a funny comparison.
I think its a good Mel Brooks film still even though it has horrid reviews.

Once Upon a Time in America ’84

First time watching this.
First time hearing about Sergio Leone
Movies close damn near to 4 hrs.
Got it free on youtube.
movie is like a writer masterpiece with flashbacks and preludes and half stories that all come together.
Been enjoying it actually.
Oh he directed good bad and ugly coool.
