Trading Places ’83

Wow thats a good holiday movie lol.
Havent seen that since I was young. The PG rated tv version.
I gotta that that was refreshing.
That movie was the bomb.
So freaking funny I couldnt stop laughing.
Its a comedy, heist, romance, revenge, good ending.
Ill just go through characters cause theyre so funny.
Eddie murphy; kills it as poor and as rich.
The first rich man party.
The legless vet scene.
The jail scene and the kung-fu.
The encounter with Dan Akroyd, and suitcase.
The first few days rich, the immediate successes.
The smoking weed in the toilet.
The heist.
The kind deed.
Dan Akroyd really kills it almost better than Eddie sadly. lol.
The rich pompous style.
The gets arrested and poor.
The encounter with Jamie Lee Curtis, the rough streets of Philly, the lost friends. The pawn shop. Omg the Santa scene and bus ride he really kills it.
Then hes black face on the train which is kinda weird but I couldnt help from laughing him and Eddie playing like old Africa buddies, is so fk ridiculous.
Then finally the ending where they pull off the mostly legit heist.
Wow epic ending to the movie.
Duke Brothers not much to say, seem kind and mean, two faced in the end.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Beautiful and charismatic smart and for whatever reason she helps Dan Akroyd lol.
The business spy, typical villain.
The butler, cheeky kinda funny, kind.
Loved the ending to this movie, the second half once Valentine discovers the plan, he groans as Santa its absolutely hilarious, and sad at the same time, mostly hilarious.
Alls well that ends well, this movie is an 80s classic was so happy to revisit it.
Was so worth it, I was cry laughing at the jokes.
And, its just great they team up at the end.
Has to be one of my favorite Dan Akroyd movies, hes such a wild actor, same with Eddie, they really got the buddy genre down.
Its not a cop movie, but business deal, and yea, they hayday of the world trade center, wow thats a retro scene forsure.
Funny to see the trading, much before the digital age, there was advertisements for apple ii but nothing like what im writing this off of.
So yea I watched that in two parts but definitely a adult comedy, Christmas is on after watching that lol.
Just thinking about makes me tear up a little lol.
And Philly is hardcore, definetly want to visit one day.
Party on the amtrak with the Belushi brother.
___
I guess the dukes were some famous actors from the 60’s.
Omg its Paul Gleason from Breakfast Club, no doubt I remember him as a perfect a-hole character.
Bo diddley

48 hrs ’82

Lol watching Eddie Murphy movies.
This one was ridiculous but great.
Maybe one of the better cop buddy movies Ive seen.
It was just ridiculous, ridiculous characters, protagonists, ridiculous scenes and car chases gun fights.
It was well made, really 80’s and cool car chases.
Nick Nolte is one ice cold bad ass, Eddie Murphy is cool and funny.
Typical stereotypes, angry police chief, angry girlfriend lol.
I liked the setting in San Francisco.
I liked the China town neon lights and the final scenes.
The characters developed ok.
Nick Nolte just a racist asshole, but turns around into a buddy situation.
Eddie Murphy makes me laugh.
Loved that Cadillac and the way he drives it.
Just really some of the best of the 80s.
Rated R something I could never watch as a kid, but nothing stopping me now lol.
Ive been to San Francisco too so that was a cool throwback.
Yeh Nick Nolte super overkill thats probably the first movie Ive ever seen him in, but hes a natural like Kurt Russell, lol.
The scene where he empties out his pockets to fight Reggie Hammand, classic.
There was some good laughs in that, totally worth my time.
Was cool seeing the Hill billy bar, and the other rock club. I guess 82 some racial segregation happening in the states so the black white buddy cop movies are a funny contrast.
Especially two wild characters like that.
Its a film style thats worked well over the years. I think of all the way up to Rush Hour, same formula, different characters.
Just makes me chuckle thinking bout how crazy that was.
Gotta love the 80’s heavy nostalgia for me.
The dialogue and smokey rooms, and slamming the phone and swearing.. Takes me back lol.
It thought lots of populated scenes worked well, lots of busy streets busy clubs. Busy train station chase.
Didnt skimp out on the car chase scenes.
That was the first Eddie Murphy movie so I decided to watch em all and be a connoisseur lol.
___
Crazy how 48hrs has outstanding ratings and Harlem Nights is very very low.
When they were both enjoyable.
If I had to compare I’d have them at a very close tie.
Nothing beats the Beverly Hills cop III for me. But theres things I liked about Harlem Nights thats wasnt in 48hrs. And, vice versa. I think the car chases were better in 48hr, but Harlme Nights was a little funnier. More Cameos in Harlem Nights, but 48 hrs had Nick Nolte. Ah its cool to finally see the first Eddie Murphy film. Enjoyed that very much.

Harlem Nights ’89

Huge Eddie Murphy fan, this came up on the reddit nostalgia.
Decided to watch it.
Nothing sweeter than watching all the R- rated movies from when i was a kid.
Never seen this movie before. The theme and settings were great.
It was a little cheezy but was some good adult comedy, i mean geez Richard Pryor.
Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, Arsenio, another few I cant recall. The crooked cop detective was great too.
Richard Pryor that takes me back to a simpler time.
Same with Eddie Murphy, I think it was a pretty good movie, nothing i didnt really like about it, gangster action comedy romance drama.
Just a fun movie throwback to back in the day, a day in the late 30s maybe where Richard Pryor and Eddie murphy are family lol.
Eddie plays a sly dectective slash criminal tough guy, smart and dangerous.
Richard plays the playboy club owner with a heart of gold just out to make a name for himself and do business and make money.
I think my fave scene was when Arsenio chasing Eddie and that car scene and Eddie just jumps through the window that was hilarious.
The boxer kinda funny.
The villain is like a typical villain in these movies, wants to make too much money, gets in the heroes way then underestimates em and eventual downfall.
I just i love the 80’s and Eddie takes me to my happy place.
A movie without cellphones and screens and just fun.
Doesnt take itself too seriously but enough decent acting to make you forget about your troubles for a bit.
Plus just delightful to see Richard on screen again, its been a while.
Otherwise i enjoyed that.
Just silly setting with some late 80s effects and jokes.
Rotten tomatoes gave it a very low rating but the google reviews are high.
Rotten tomatoes doesnt know what its doing honestly they dont know what makes a good movie in my opinion lol.
Id be better off just searching the lowest rated movies, and call it a day.
Meanwhile im venturing what is rated high is just straight garbage.
Cant totally confirm.
I think if its mainstream and popular it gets a good rating, if its niche and not mainstream or widely advertised or critiqued it gets low ratings.
Ity wasnt no Beverly hills cop 3 but was just as memorable.

___
Middlebrow thats me kinda, lower middlebrow maybe, with a mix of high. Maybe yea true middlebrow.
Just reading about Pryor a bit.
Redd Foxx never heard of him but he looks familiar.
Lol these nominations for worst movies lol.
I dunno im a fan of these have you seen the blog i mean it wasnt the worst thing I watched I was actually kinda enthralled to see some of my stars from the yesteryears, plus im a huge Eddit Murphy fan for life!

The Munsters 2022

Fuck that was a good movie.
Refreshing.
Bright colorful, musical comedic.
Loved that.
Thats in my top 2, I liked top gun 2, and Munsters just the same almost , incomparible, but both equally awesome.
Damn Rob Zombie you make some good movies.

Dawn Of the Dead (Romero) ’78

Shout out to Dennis, hes the one that showed me this movie.
Revisiting it since i was a child lol.
Oh people having a hard time in the late 70s lol.
This is awesome and hardcore at the same time lol.
This movie is a freakin bloodbath lol.

Mars Attacks ’96

Been a minute since I seen this one, was happy to see Micheal J fox, Jack Black, Jack nicholson, um James bond.
Lots of crazy actors and crazy scenes.
Its a fun medium gore movie, the special effects are neat, some scenes I forgot about so it was a good taste of Nostalgia.
I cant really remember when this came out, i must have rented it or something.
That takes me back man 1996 lol.
How naive we all were thinking the good times would last forever.
I like the scene where the alien dresses up like the tall blonde and immediately he starts hitting on her, and just ridiculous things.
ANother scene is the Army ambasador calls up the wife and kids and is like see I told you you work hard, now i get to meet the aliens, hes the first to get shot.
The whole punchline in that movie is the Slim Whitman – Indian love call lol.
I decided to revisit cause it was Tim Burton after I saw Sleepy Hollow I really studied the scenes.
Hes really a great filmaker. Lighting characters sets, I dunno this movie was epic.
The more i learn about movie production, this one was an interesting one to watch.
They really didnt cut the scenes with the aliens short theyre everywhere. Just full on special effects, and playing with the head replacement its great.
Which is great cause back in the day they used to never show the monster, till way at the end and only a quick scene.
NOw it was a full frontal comedic assault.
With some pop culture jokes, i dunno fun seeing all the A list actors from back in the day all in one movie.
Great film, silly but fun.

Sleepy Hollow ’99

Cant believe its Tim Burton.
Master of Halloween.
So dope to see Johnny Depp Hardly recognize him from 20+ years ago.
Horror – Fantasy – Romance.
Wonderful.
Christina Ricci , omg havent heard that name in a minute.
Absolutely beautiful especially in this role.
She played Wednesday Addams, thats why i love her so much.
Just the teenage hearthrobs lmao how embarassing.
Shes still hot af. Shes ultra famous. I love her though.
Almost as equally as I love Christopher Walkin, and buddy from Ravenous.
This is just the ultra throwback to the good old days.
Amazing sets, a wild look at the late 1700s yipes.
I never say this about a movie but wow lighting.
Reminds me of the forests of blairwitch. lol
Add in a little dark comedy for the quadruple.
Ricci looks so sweet as a blonde unbelievable.
The setting in this film does it for me.
Unbelievable creepy and visceral and liminal. Tim Burton is amazing.
You know it reminds me alot of Lovecraft origins.
The original thriller, i really respect that writing style and aspire to be that one day.
It creates a passion a lust, a theme a setting that Tim burton Really harnessed in a way.
Im just saying from my literary experience.
Thats a cool connection.
Damn Christina Ricci I love you on screen.
Shes like the sensible witch attractive witch lol.
I love her eyes.
That setting from the burnt down house what an amazing set, I really cant place Tim Burton any higher as a film maker especially from the 90’s really amazing work man. The films I grew up on.
Its all about the setting character cast, the lightin obviously the mist and steam, the special effects almost comes last which is wonderful.
These creepy ass sets seriously.
That scene was amazing withg the magistrate lol wow.
Johnny depp is a wonderful actor no doubt.
The film is beautiful so glad i revisited this.
Hey hes wearing the puffy shirt lol.
Witch scene holds up more or less.
Now we got the Yoda Darth Vader tree with some added flair.
Shes so beautiful in those dark damp woods.
Holy fuck not holdy on showing the headless horseman, those scenes were crazy. Only took an hour of film till we see the antagonist.
Omg those dream scenes are terrifying. Witch hunt and fear from the past.
Breaking up graves, and witches.
Ricci is such a contrast to the film its really epic.
Damn shes hot when shes mad too lol.
The conclusion of this film is the best.
ITs a slow creepup to chaos and mayhem, mystery.
Love Horses in movies aslong as they treated nice. Rarely but it makes for a amzing flick. I knew buddy from ravenous was a evil character, the plot unwinds.
Oh that is savage!.
THe denouement in this movie is crazy its fantastic, really grips you.
Evil stepmom who could have guessed.
Hahah Johnny depp riding the headless horseman! hahaha
Ricci on the reigns doesnt get much better than this lmao.
I guess Physics affects the Horseman more than spirituality.
That is one fuckin amazing movie.
Romance Horror Comedy thriller mystery. And they lived hapilly ever after.
Christer walken with the only line A disgrunteled yell.
I gotta say thtas one of the best finales ive seen in a long time.
Epic soundtrack.
Really miss the tim burton.
Sick fuckin movie. 10/10 bravo!

Band of Brothers ’01

Slacking on the blog.
What can i say I revisited some USA WW2 hardcore tv series, HBO.
Politics just got me so damned pissed off.
Watching the event unfold in a fictional historic masterpiec by the Tom Hanks.
Every part of this show is great.
Heavy gore, personal testimony.
I enjoyed following the 101st on google maps.
It was pretty great viewing it after 20 years.
Those were real people doing crazy shit and crazy mental experience for the benefit of the free world.
Im both shocked to see what happened back then, and shocked to see the way the world is today after that.
The holocaust in particular, and the shaping of facism particularly concerns me.
That some would cheer such a blood bath.
Anyways the series for only 10 episodes long is fantastic I was glued to the TV.
Really hard on the volum cause the machine guns and artillery, is like way too loud, and just carnage.
The dull moments.
Yeh Capt Spiers and Major Winters some pretty incredible stories.
I watched this long ago but was interesting to revisit.
Not sure what else I can write about this, just some historical accuracy mixed with fiction, im sure everyone is quite proud of that.
I guess its the Tom hanks team from saving private Ryan.
Yeh i noticed Malarky in some new shows.
Just the tension in this show is unbearable so dramatic and action packed.

New Faces ’54

Movie is pretty cool, just finishing off more Mel Brooks I havent seen.
Not much I can say about this that isnt original.
I like the happy go-luckyness of it.
The innocence or illusion of the 50s.
Women dressed sexy and nice.
Men maybe but less so. Just a suit jacket is all you need.
In this film long ponytails, long skits, short tops.
I like the sets, its like Broadway but more extreme.
Ive been introduce to Eartha Kitt for the first time.
I like the dancing, singing. There was that neat scene with the jawbreakers.
It was like an illusion scene, not sure how they did that.
Its like what i would call a stage musical, they have the musical dance portions on stage, but also some theatrical behind the scenes with sets.
Really the definition of 50s flicks.
I wonder if theyrell be a water ballet.
Otherwise that happy go lucky guy just watching the perfomance, the plot is a bit difficult to stay totally attached to but the Earth Kitt song singing in french and other performances are pretty cool. Love wild tap dancing. Full on production.
Red head blonde musta been the inspiration for Jessica Rabbit same hair and shape.
Buddy and his book and some heavy vernacular.
The two old ladies singing over a teapot set.
Too rich and beautiful for true love lol.
Musta been fun with sets back then. Simple yet detailed and to the point.
Dance is such a interesting form of expression. Paired with music and costumes. Couples.
Something sexy about 50’s aesthetic, pointy bras lol.
Hairstyle.
Its nice with some french some songs, just hear Alouette havent heard that in years. Some great singing by this cast.
Eartha Kitt shes the star of this film forsure. amazing rendition of Santa baby.
Thats pretty cool to see.
Just that rendition makes me love this flick. Just non stop performances.
Wow pop culture. Mentions crowning of Elizabeth II , 1953.
Waltzing in venice, its not my favorite lol, ugly colors and song is ok its kinda cringe to be honest ahaha. I can respect it though. Ok the joke made it worth it.
Those look like star trek outfits lmao.
I like the dance number.
4 styles of dance atleast no lyrics pretty good.
Lol trip of the month; hes all crippled.
Little racist bit about Africa, isnt as bad as ive seen on the blog, was more of a small comedy bit.
Turkey bit was cool mezmorizing.
Aw in love with teacher thats funny.
Wasted on baseball lol the metaphor for my life ahaha.
Baseball better than pick pocketing ahaha.
This is the Willy lowman of film. Dont whistle in the elevator. only 10 years old when this came out, amazing.
ITs humourous and dark and exagerated. Its some wild acting though for theatre film.
This scene is crazy. very death of a salesman esque a parody though.
Ah ruthless, that was a good scene. Just alot of flailing and emotion.
Wow obscene for the 50s lol.
Im mclovin it though.
Ive never seen a movie like this before.
Earth Kitt is awesome.
Sings in french and english and more. She made the presidents wife Mrs. Johnson Cry lmao. Woulda paid 100$ to see that.
Bagheera voice wow.
Nah i love her.
I recognize that singing from jungle book neat.
___
Lmao i knew it Arthur Miller came to a show, he gort parodied, but like other Mel Brooks films its more of an honor. Even George Lucas was happy to get parodied.
i think that scene sticks with me the most. Then the eartha kitt and Santa Baby.
Thats some good film another one for the books on the Blog, you know i like to keep it vintage retro and something interesting about pop culture.
Not generally seen by most.
I really liked those dance numbers, reminds me of the best of Mary poppins, Eartha Kitt was just wonderfull too I love her.

The Critic ’63

Funny little short film with some Mel Brooks Commentary.
Its humorous its short.
It has shapes. Its fun.
Short film made from a personal experience.
Its worth a chuckle. Not much mega point except it was fun.
Its a old movie abstract.
Like a party trick. Pre-youtube.
It won an academy award for short film.
Its free on youtube.
I like this one its projected on the wall probably how youd see it at home maybe.
